London's Olympic History

In 2012 London will host the Games of the XXX Olympiad.

This is the third time the British capital has hosted the Games, the first being in 1908 and second in 1948.

Fair Pricing Charter

Visit London has produced a 2012 Fair Pricing and Practice Charter.

The aim of the charter is to allow event decision makers to identify UK event venues, destination management companies, producers and suppliers that have made a firm commitment to reasonable and fair trading terms during the 2012 Games.

London 2012: Who's Who

A number of organisations are involved in putting on the 2012 Games.

Visit London is working alongside the organisations below.

  • LOCOG: The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games is responsible for preparing and staging the Games.
  • The ODA: The Olympic Delivery Authority is the public body responsible for developing and building the venues and infrastructure for the Games.
  • The Olympic Board: The Olympic Board, made up of representatives of 2012 stakeholders, provides oversight, strategic coordination and monitoring of the 2012 Games project.
  • The Mayor of London: The Mayor of London works with the Greater London Authority group to ensure Londoners benefit from the 2012 Games.
  • DCMS: The Department for Culture, Media and Sport leads for Government on the delivery of the 2012 Games.
  • The Nations and Regions Group: The Nations and Regions Group ensures that all parts of the UK benefit from the Games.
  • Commercial Partners: International and UK commercial partners provide essential sponsorship to fund the staging of the Games.
